Advanced AI is rapidly moving toward more autonomous and more general capabilities. Expert forecasts say artificial superintelligence may emerge within the next few years — and no one today knows how to keep it under control.
Our goal is a global, fully enforceable treaty that prevents the creation of uncontrollable and dangerous artificial superintelligence — with commitments from the key AI players, above all the USA and China. Ratified and in force by 2030. Faced with global threats, humanity has reached agreements before: banning dangerous CFCs, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, climate commitments.
The United States and China have the main say in AI development — without their will, no substantial change will happen. But we expect that as AI capabilities grow, these powers too will increasingly realise that a frantic race toward super-capable systems runs against their own interests. Our initiative will help Europe be ready to act as a partner and facilitator of the international agreement when the opportunity opens.
A Czech non-profit will not negotiate a global treaty on its own — but it can speed up the political process and public support.
A European citizens’ initiative, a network of partner organisations and targeted briefings for policymakers — read what we are actually doing.
